About us

Our young people’s future, Our mission!

The Southwell Youth Club was formed after the Nottinghamshire County Council’s Core Young Peoples Centre was closed in September 2014 due to governmental budget cuts and responsibility of the building was handed over to the library.

Volunteer youth worker Peter Herniman led a small team of volunteer youth workers and local professionals to form a new organisation to keep the centre alive for the young people of Southwell. We rented the building off the library every Thursday and luckily all the equipment for the young people remained in the centre.

Since March we have been operating ever since, with kind help from local businesses, the local media, the library and local politicians. Thanks to all of our efforts we have given young people a cool, safe and fun place to go.

We are now on a constant mission to build on the Southwell Youth Club for not being just a club but an organisation where young people can truly make it theirs.

Watch this space the future is coming....
